In The Tackroom Poem by Rick Elpers

In The Tackroom

I write to appease my soul
Readers read to open theirs
I always wonder at how this affects them
She asked me a statement
Of the number that which
I've written
I said thank you for noticing
Her look caused me to wonder
Did she read those for my new love
Did she reread those for her
Is it my ego that I thought
A little disappointment came her way
That my attention is now taken
Yet her own life full and busy
With family and horses
I cannot enter so easily
So I cautiously tread appropriate
Boundaries
As our time comes often
Even under the guise of horses
