In The World-To-Come Poem by Shalom Freedman

In The World-To-Come

In the world- to -come
I will be as I was once in body young
As I am in mind now older and wiser
And you too will be the best of what you can be
So we will all be
All at our best
For as long as we feel it alright
And then perhaps
We will all have perfect boring lives
Whose meaninglessness will kill inside
Until we find yet another higher world
Rich in challenges
Also in defeats, pains, sufferings, struggles
As in this world
And have lives as we have them in this world
And live and die in time that shows no mercy
Until after the end we will once again begin again
Perhaps and perhaps
We don't know and we will never know
And all we can ever do is dream God will somehow save us
In a way we cannot understand.
