Index Finger
I can set out on a world tour
On foot, holding your fingers,
Your beautiful, slim fingers.
I can spend years in meditation
Like a sage, if you let me clench
Your slender fingers in my fist.
I can embark on a parachute jump
From the top of the Mt. Everest,
If I have with me, your slim fingers.
I can write a poem every morning,
Only if every night I go to sleep
Holding one or more of your fingers.

i am putting together my/our August 2017 showcase. i am going to use this poem. i noticed this time your use of enclench and i looked it up, as i only can recall hearing the word clench/-ed/-ing, not enclench in my life. i find a definition of clench which does not fit well, but i get the idea. and a French word enclencher which is a worse fit. in any case, i leave enclench and am happy to use the poem. Thanks. bri :)
