Indian Railways Poem by Bireswar Halder

Indian Railways

I chug away thousands of miles along the track
With my children, a mother carries in womb
In rains, storm or in nature's fury
Through tunnels or hilly terrain in comfort.

I bubble with their boundless joys
Pains in heart fade as the road stretches
My commitment redoubles reaching the destinations
Safe, secure and dot on clock.

Sometimes I fail to fulfill my commitment
Tracks are obstructed by movements
Or when irritated mobs torch the chugging trains
Indifferent of small kids, patients or the old.

It pains me severely with their cruelty
When extremists commit sabotages and bomb blasts
Killing innocents mercilessly in ghoulish orgy
The air coloured by hateful groans and hisses.

Oh dear friends, think of progress of the nation
Think of those who are really innocent
Think of another way of your movements
Let us all be free while we see our lands unfold
We march on serving you, serving all.
