Ink-Stained Armor Poem by Joyce Rugg

Ink-Stained Armor

Armor, sword, and shield in one
Defense against ignorance,
Severing stupidity
To keep the zombies at bay

Paper wings to let me fly
When a leaden heart drags down,
Carry me away from this
petty fighting on the ground

Slipping through the penned letters
To swim in an ink blue sea
Wander through the silent words,
get lost in the blanks between

Release, relief, and comfort
First refuge and last resort
