Innocence Gone Poem by Candace Batch

Innocence Gone

He sees you by your locker, it's 9th grade year.
He pulls you aside, and tells you something in your ear.
You know what he wants, you're not that dumb.
He wants to use you, confuse you, just so he can get him some.
It takes a while, about seven weeks but soon, after all that time,
He'll get what he seeks.
You get on the bus, one day after school.
Se takes you to his house, let you meet his nefew, you look at his big sister, she knows what's up too.
You go up to his room and you sit on his bed.
So many thoughts, runnin' through your head.
You're scared, yeah you know but you don't let it show.
Y'all start kissing, and you just let go.
Now he's on top, undressing you.
He takes your shirt up over your head and without missing a beat, he
Throws it on the bed.
Once you're undressed, he looks at you and goes to his closet to get a you-know-who and puts it on before he starts.
At least you know he's at least that smart.
You were so young, just fourteen and surely he was about eighteen.
He eases it in, very slow and just like that, the purity goes.
As soon as it's over, it's like a sad song,
Cause now you know, your innocence it gone.
