Internet Dating Poem by David Thomas

Internet Dating

Rating: 4.5

Times change my boy
but love does not
say the young at heart
and old in age,
here we are two-oh-one-one
and we're moving our old brick-ovens
and our cast-iron heaters into the yard
for others to buy or sell,
replacing with electricity and technology
Love is not so cheap
to be sold on a yard
or built in a day,
but oh how easy it is
these days
To find someone that you could love
by simply typing in the word
love has lost its meaning
and we have lost our ways,
technology can come with love
but the balance we all need,
seems to have run away
our hopes still rest in our palms
yes.
but no longer with our parchment and our pen,
but under cellphones and a coffee cup.

while i am against,
that which hastens an age old journey
This is how i meant you
and i'd never take it back
nor give you up so willfully,
so while love may be gone
we can continue in its footsteps
creating harmony on earth
and giving hope to the lost,
but for now let's just put our cell phones away...
we all need to live a little,
before it comes too late.
