It Lingers In The Air Poem by Kaitlin Schmidt

It Lingers In The Air

Rating: 4.5

It lingers in the air
No one wants to say
Just how much they want it to go away.

They ignore it
As if it wasn't there
Going on with their lives
Without a care.

It gets bigger and bigger
And then they snap.
They realize what has been done
They want to take it back.

It's too late now
It can't be fixed
They take a step back
To see the life they have missed.

What have I done?
They ask, hoping to
Reverse everything back
But it's too late.

But life goes on
What is done is done.
They lie to themselves so the feel
Like they still have won.
They can't face true defeat.
