'It Was For The Best.' Poem by Jessica Elizondo

'It Was For The Best.'

I try to look like this isn't bothering me,
but I can't help but to listen to the song
playing in the backround as you dance
with her. Your eyes no longer click with
mine, and in the end, you never really
put up a fight, so in the end I guess it
was for the best. I have to admit, in a
selfish way, that I do miss your presence,
your arms wrapped around me keeping
me safe, your voice telling me promises
in sweet whispers in my ear. The song
finally ends now, and I try to deminish the
thoughts still left in my head, take one last
glance at how happy you are and how she
seems to understand, and walk away
'it was for the best, ' I tell myself, 'it was
for the best'

Hi Jessica, I know how you feel, I can relate. However, God does heals all our hurts. Keep writing about what so many of us need to hear, especially when it relates to ourselves. Keep writing, Donielle S.
