It Wounds The Earth Poem by Patti Masterman

It Wounds The Earth

Rating: 5.0

It wounds the Earth
To bury a fallen soldier;
His strong, loving hands,
His laughter forever sobered.

Loved ones above
Look down on so raw a grave,
Their hearts fully wrung-
Because everything, he gave.

The pains are diffuse,
Fading slowly, as real pain does-
The cause, it was all;
Now forget everything, he was

Give back to the Earth
His noble heart of glory-
But tell the tale often,
That thus live his valiant story.
