Krishna Janmashtami,
Vishnu in the eight avatar
Born to Vasudeva and Devaki
And he crossing the Yamuna
To give to Nanda and Yasoda.
The Divine Child born to
And scrambling for
He taking to in a basket over the head
Crossing the river
To hand it over,
How the lore, strangely-pitted writ of destiny!
