Job Security Poem by Dorsey Baker

Job Security

He'd stop by the bar
have a few drinks
to calm himself down
company cutbacks
they let him go
after twenty years
of service
said they were sorry
but his job
was one of the ones
that had to be eliminated
they congratulated him
on his years
of service to the company
that is just the way
business works
don't take it personal
they told him
but how was he going
to make it
he didn't have anything
saved up
he was living
paycheck to paycheck
he will have to find
another job
after all
he has a wife and
family to feed
he'll get up early in
the morning
and he will go
job hunting!
