Just Beyond These Walls Poem by Perry Biggerstaff

Just Beyond These Walls

Rating: 5.0

The sound of loved ones...just beyond these walls
that separate one small room from another.
Familiar sounds...welcomed sounds

The sound of little fingers...on piano
permeate each room with measured learning.
marking time with every stroke of ivory.

The sound of her cooking in the kitchen as she hums
brings comfort and a smile
Each melody, each clatter, sings love to me.

The sound of echoed voices.. from ones now gone away.
Heard and treasured in memory alone.
..so close...yet...
just beyond the walls that separate one small room from another.

When we are left behind, the memories are all we have of the happier days, the fuller days, the days we had generosity of life. Again a heartfelt write.
