Kept Crucial Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Kept Crucial

If this to repeat it,
Bores with familiarity.
Kept crucial is past nonsense,
To keep the unchanging of changing times...
Maintained the same to entertain.
Although to move ahead,
Most will agree defines progress.
Yet that progress to define,
Leaves many behind.
Never to approach to know,
The satisfaction of crossing...
A much discussed to talk about,
Witnessing a desired finish line.
Proving some progress has been made.

If this to repeat it,
Bores with familiarity.
Kept crucial is past nonsense.
Many accept as a comfort.
Easily accessible.
Available and quickly to produce.
Daily highlighting,
A past that has gone.
But expected to live on.
With the teaching...
That a beating of a dead horse,
Has its advantages.
When taught as a ritual,
From one generation to the next.
And monitored to inspect to keep left,
Approved and accepted...
As an expectation.

"What about the future? "

-Ours?
Or the horse? -
