Killing Pursues The Killer



When the Autumn wind was rippling
The branches of a mango tree,
The hen was away from the coop
To scratch the fallen leaves
And search for food to its chicks.

A snake from the bush crept in
Pushed its head through a hole in the coop
Clasped two chucking chicks
Got its head out and began to move.
The hen scurried back
Rushed to clip the head of the reptile
And restrained itself to shroud her other chicks.

A hawk perching on the tree
Swooped down and scooped out
The neck of the cunning snake
By its talons, soared above a rock
Viewed down for a while
And dropped the reptile down over the scree
Which had some sharp edged stones.
The chopped head of the snake
Fell away from the stones.
The chicks stopped their cries,
