Kingfisher Poem by Sheena Blackhall

Kingfisher

Dressed as a sharp beaked harlequin,
She springs from a bough
A deadly dart piercing river air

Sure as a javelin
Faster than lightening
She is the silent skewer of fish

She is glamorous as a courtesan
Even in stormy weather

She is winged danger
Feather-light, vivacious
A flashing rainbow
Into still water, stabbing
