Lament Of Old Age Poem by Colin Ian Jeffery

Lament Of Old Age

Where have all the golden days of youth gone
With questing mind, body healthy, passions aflame?
All has slipped away, scattered by the wind and lost
Years so fleeting never relived and enjoyed.
When I was young and easy, bold and resolute
All seemed bright without storm clouds in my world
Days full of promise with time never pressing
Each hour a discovery with mind questing.
Old age has sneaked up upon me taking me fierce
With arthritic joints, blood pressure, over-weight
Hair white as snow, walking with a stick
Glasses for reading and driving, more visits to the toilet.
Old age speeds time, days rushing bye swiftly
Moving me towards the grave where there is no return.
