Laughter Poem by Matthew Hunt

Laughter

Laughter is what we use to express joy.
Laughter is what we use to be happy.
Without laughter we can not be happy.
Without laughter we can only be miserable.

Those of us who can laugh freely and without worry are happy and lucky
But those of us who need to laugh in order to stay hidden from society
We are the ones who are cursed.

We are the ones who society is afraid of.
We are the ones that handle all the burdens of our family, friends, even our enemies.
We are the ones who build society and then are thrown away if we speak out.

Those who have no fear, no need to fake a laugh or smile. They are truly lucky, they are the ones that may live freely, without struggle or fear of regret.
They are the ones who may live and love freely
They are the ones who are blinded by false security.

We are the ones who make this security possible.
They are the ones who need us
We are the ones who when pushed to the edge can turn from the friendliest people alive, to the most demonic nightmares imaginable.

Laughter is truly what defines a person.
Laughter is meant to be joy-filled, not hollow.
Laughter is what can save a life, or even keep one from insanity.
But in the ultimate end, Laughter is how we move on.
Laughter is how we cope with our losses.
Laughter is simply part of everyone's life.

Be it fake or be it real, Laughter is critical to their survival as much as ours.

Laughter is truly a curse indeed. Yet it is truly a painful gift to have.
