Life And Death Poem by Somanathan Iyer

Life And Death

shadowed by death
proceeds the life
in between comes
bonds and attachments
in the form of relations
that choke our senses
duty bound we feel
in appeasing near and dear
prop up in the run
many a twists and turns
enjoying pleasures
heaven we feel
undergoing miseries
hell we proclaim
unperturbed by all this
time takes us in its sway
till the time breathing last
time moves along with life
pounces the death
in any form destined
to pluck the life
from clutches of time

Between life and death, we have a short life, sometimes filled with joy and sometimes laden with sorrow and ever left cumbersome with a number of commitments, attachments, engagements and preoccupations until at last loosened from the clutches of time! Great write!
