Little songbird in a tree,
Are you singing a song for me?
Because I am lonely and blue,
- Quite the same as you.
I am listening with amaze
To your singing so full of grace,
And of love, I hold so dear,
Which in your song I always hear.
Oh little songbird sing your tune,
Full of spirit and gayness in June;
But later when the summer is gone,
Who shall remember it, and carry on?
Like you,
I shall perish too!
