Keep me near you in this dream,
As close as the strands of your hair
Kissing your bare shoulders in the summertime.

This love is pure and untainted
Like an ancient stream in the woods
Leading to a sacred shrine.

I can’t promise to fulfill every desire
That motivates your heart,
But my every thought follows the path
Leading to the innocence and vulnerability of your eyes.

We have to make it in this life understanding
We are water flowing through God’s ocean of purpose;
Everything has higher meaning when it’s done
For someone other than ourselves,

And I need to live for someone like you.
