Lonely Heart Poem by Jeff Law

Lonely Heart

When you walk away from me, you make me hesitate
I want to stop you and say wait
But I know that this is a mistake

When I blink and rub my eyes
I make sure that you're no disguise
Cause you know I’m not like other guys

I’m just a lonely heart away

I try and get you on the phone
I try to ring you on the home
But all I get is the answer tone

I want to know that you are safe
And that you're in a safer place
So when I pray when I say grace

I’m still that lonely heart away

I’ll sit and make up silly rhymes
Just silly lines to pass the time
Just knowing that that you've passed the line

I hate you when you get like this
The smell of men on you, clenched fist
A genie in a bottle I wish

To take my lonely heart away

If you mess me about right
You’ll see me in another light
My brake lights, as I drive into the night

I wish the fun from me not alcohol
Cause when you’re drunk out on the floor,
Why am I here at all?

Just sit a lonely heart away

I’ve given all out I can give
I’m just trying to stay positive
As you’re on the bottle take a sip

I’ll laugh as in the morning sun
You’ll think back to what have you done
But by then I’ll be longest gone

I’ll be a lonely heart away

It’s kind of funny, if you think
That if you’d not had that last drink
I’d still give you that sexy wink

But now you’ve blown it easily
And I won’t come back, can’t you see
You took to much love out of me

So I’m a lonely heart away
