Lonely, Open Waters Poem by Stephanie Spray

Lonely, Open Waters

Rating: 5.0

I've lost myself in this sea of confusion
where land has become a dreamy dilussion
and faith has become a thing of the past
as I paddle to shores that will never be at hand.

The sun beats down on me,
and burns my skin and where my heart used to be.
It makes a hole, that only I know
and I'm that more aware that I am alone.
I reach out for love! To the heavens I cry!
But what do I receive out alone on the sea's eye?

Empty promises, and a boat with only one oar,
in circles I go, rounding forevermore,
in hopes that I'll reach land somewhere in this spherical motion
as I gasp for truth in the heart of a lonely ocean.
