Longing Poem by Aaron Priestly

Longing

The heartbeat keeps on beating, beating.
Alone. Alive. She’ll be waiting. I’ll be weeping,
Yet the stars keep on crashing through the clear sky
And the moment we will keep will be fleeting.
Yet the stars keep shining on in her eyes.
She’ll be waiting. I’ll be weeping. Weeping.

And though time will keep on moving, moving.
I will long for her ever more. Tell me it’s true
That the earth still spins around the dimness
And the time we are apart will soon be through.
Still the earth keeps on living on in her canvas.
Tell me it’s true that the moment will be soon. Soon.
