Aaron Priestly Poems

Who can know the troubles of your heart,
Or why you smile your broken smile.
Who knows where to start
With a shattered heart living in denial.
...

(Man) : 'One last goodbye for the ice is about to break;
I've had my time in the sun.
What matters it to see them drowning in that lake,
I have my memories of fun?
...

3.

Happy dreams of me and you,
Happy times through and through.
Hand in hand, stuck like glue,
When the days seem many and true.
...

Still born love concieved through fear,
Never alive, Never dead, Never fair.
Ripe blessings fall like tears,
Nothing to do but stare.
...

The autumn stained leaf drops carefully
To the dark floor below.
It sits alone waiting for the first fall of winter snow.
Forever in a day it speaks no words.
...

It lay’s in her eyes,
That misty longing for more.
It sparkles in her eyes,
That feeling I hold and adore.
...

The false plot of a love untold,
Unfurls to see light for the first time.
Naked, it waits to be sold,
To the unsuspecting masses.
...

So the boy left for his
Journey to the end.
Even though he knew this,
He could no longer pretend.
...

9.

When did the pain stop?
As my back was turned to the sun?
Empty, hollow, lost I remain,
For I had you and now I only have this gun.
...

10.

Let’s bury the hatchet,
Bone deep into my back.
Let’s forgive and forget that we met
Over the love we both lacked.
...

I have no voice.
I have no soul.
Bring me down
To the watering hole.
...

</>Where is the world,
If not in his eyes?
His broken eyes,
Having seen both
...

If I could fly ever closer to the sun,
Stare down its capricious mouth and spit.
I would know how to break your hardened heart
And how to keep it, and mould it, and love it.
...

Just a whisper amongst the gentle trees;
A forlorn whisper of times to come.
An unuttered opportunity in the dying breeze.
A reminder of what is done is done.
...

The heartbeat keeps on beating, beating.
Alone. Alive. She’ll be waiting. I’ll be weeping,
Yet the stars keep on crashing through the clear sky
And the moment we will keep will be fleeting.
...

16.

I passed the dawn to reach the night
As the ship sailed softly away.
It caught the clouds in its swelling sails
As the sailors screamed goodbye,
...

What a pretty, pretty sight
She paints as she walks past my life
Into the open night, a brief encounter.
But at what price?
...

Sat across an empty room
Talking to the walls.
I see in the reflection of my glass
A lost and lonely face.
...

The room was small,
Smaller than I cared to believe.
So small that I dared not breathe.
It was there that she left me.
...

Where are the words to save me?
I find dust in the ink pot; ulcers in the mouth,
But life had promised so much more.
I look to the words of others and find...

The Best Poem Of Aaron Priestly

Who Knew?

Who can know the troubles of your heart,
Or why you smile your broken smile.
Who knows where to start
With a shattered heart living in denial.

Who can see the torment at home,
Or why you cry in the hall.
Who can say that they leave you alone
Or that they truly know you at all.

Who can pick you up after a stumble
And wipe away your tears.
Who is there to hear your whispered mumble
And to scare away your deepest fears.

Who can save you from the darkness
And deliver your soul into the light.
Who is there to see you are helpless;
Who is there to help you fight.

Who could know that you threw it all to hell,
Or that they lost something important.
Who could say, or who could tell
Now that the world is different.

Who knew what was really said
And why it was said that way.
Who can say their heart feels like lead,
Not knowing if it will last the stay.

Who can rise above the flames,
To create a new beginning.
Who can forget the blame
And begin their joyeous singing.
