Look At Me Poem by Heart Of Ink

Look At Me

I want you to look at me
The way I look at you
The way I want to be
From my own point of view
The world is such a mess
It's time to get rid of it
It's time to be who you are
Are you not getting this?
I want you to look around
The way you look at me
If you want to screw around
Then please, don't count on me
If you want my soul, my heart, my body
To be your own play card, TV

If you want to know who I am
Then let's have a chat
If you want to give me your hand
Then don't twist it like that
This is all I have to offer
You can take away the dollar
I don't need what you have
And If I do, then I'll die a beggar
Out on the street
And I just don't understand
How you could believe
In freedom of expression
When it's in their minds, their eyes
What they would do if they win
They'll throw you out and I
Will be alone again

So much for money
So much for me
So much for you
So much for we

Is this what it takes
To get to the top?
The loneliest place
For any of us
