Lottery Poem by Donald William Kinney

Lottery

- - Lottery - -

I needed to shoot a gun into the sky.

Hope it to return to earth from a space so high.

Many of them went off course to there, there and there.

With some hitting things not meant to be with a sound
that can scare.

Landing with power of gravity into things of plenty hurting and killing any.

Never seeing or meeting them but knowing bad has come....

Then asked "was it worth the sorrow created" for some.

I responded No, No oh No. never was there a reason for this.

But to say "the bullet returned to the gun" only once.

I can say I did it.
