Love? Poem by Brooke Luchich

Love?

Rating: 5.0

How do you believe in love when you’ve always seen it die?
When your whole life you’ve never seen affection or trust, just lie after lie.
If your family was torn apart by cheating and lying what would you do?
Believe that you’ll find love or that the same thing will happen to you?
How could you trust someone when you’ve seen how easily it’s broken?
Could you believe sweet words when you’ve only heard harsh ones spoken?
What if every relationship you’ve seen has always fallen apart,
Would you be able to believe that you wouldn’t end up with a broken heart?
How do you trust men when you’ve been lead to believe they always cheat?
If you’ve grown up thinking a decent man is someone you’ll never meet.
When you’re young you believe that there’s always a happily ever after,
But as you get older you realise there’s more arguments than laughter.
I no longer believe that two people can always be in love with each other,
It can turn to hate in a second and I learnt that from my father and mother.
I know what relationships can do so I tend to push people away from me,
It’s hard to believe in love when I watched lies and cheating destroy my family.
