Love Is A She Poem by Chukwukadibia Benjamin

Love Is A She

She taught me witty and rosy words to scribe
And made me a star in my tribe
A rare sort, one of a kind

Love taught me nature to admire
She taught me how to love a brother
Showed me the beauty of seasons and weather
And how to cherish from my heart a sister

She taught my eyes to see beauty
And my heart for nothing feel envy
Love taught my soul peace to cherish
And made my countenance pretty

Love kept me awake all night
Praying and asking for insight
In my days longing to be a light
She made me glow with foresight

Love fills my heart with dreams
She taught me to believe the land is green
Fills my paths with glorious beams
And proposes heights yet unseen

Love drives the young and innocent
To embrace the ethereal life of a celibate
And drives a sailor who is no king
To eulogize his ship "my queen"
Love keeps him all day at the ocean
And he wouldn't feel need for the sea shore

She propels the scholar
In hours of thought and wonder
The more answers there are there
The more he wishes to be her pair

She took the pilot's desires to the sky
And teach him on courage to solely rely
Delighting him with freedom riches can't buy
Made his heart to the calling winds incline

Love gives the writer a verse
And the singer she gives a voice
The writer she blessed with so many a friends
And the performer rewards with so many a fans

Love provides the painter with uncommon scene
And opens his eyes to beauties as not been seen
Love held his brushes steady
And made a master piece of his artistry

Love had romance with my heart
And fills it with passion
It's she who animates my muscles to actions
She drives me gently with silent inspirations
And teaches me to view my life as a mission

She taught me to see beauties in things
The blue skies spread as sparkling fleece
Admiring the bare bosom of the seas
The rainbows in their arrays of colours
She made me gaze for hours upon hours
Opened my eyes to the beauties of the streams
And my ears to their resounding silent screams
She made me see beauty in rain falls
And melody in the sound they make on street walls
She opened my eyes to the beauties of the green hills
And to be at such scenes she quickens my heels
She taught my heart admiration for the night time
And made me wish the moon and stars are mine
Love taught me to see in a friend a sister
And in the sister she points me to a lover
She spurs me with the gladness of a singer
And awakens me with the zest of a dancer

Love in my hands put a pen
She leads me world fame to earn
Love taught me the greatest lesson to learn
That life do have an end
That my days on earth should count
And with joy stand before the creator to account

(For my unborn children; Chimamanda, Heaven and Chukwukadibia III.)
