Love Letters From The War Poem by shannon wright

Love Letters From The War

Rating: 5.0

Because I am you
and you are me,
And soul mates know.
We take the beat
of the other's heart,
You are captured in my chest,
And I feel you
beating inside,
Like a bird
trapped in a cage.

Bodies have not embraced,
Lips have not touched,
We strain against time
and distance,
But must remain
Content for now.
Pictures and letters
will do for the moment
Perfumed pages
contain romance
and promise
Love letters
from the war

Dreaming of the day
Hand touches hand
Fingers intertwined,
eyes lock,
that precious first kiss.
Because I am you,
And you are me,
And soul mates know.
