Love Only Shadows



dark clouds gather above
as trees,
blackened by desire,
fly by.

Blue eyes dart from side to side
as souls,
innocent by ignorance,
are struck down mercilessly.

The cross she wears around her neck
is black as the heart that gave it to her.
She runs from her only love,
as he can love only shadows.
