Love Sonnet 149: 'As Darkening Shadows Of Night Are Cast'

As darkening shadows of night are cast,
Soon stripping a day from Eternity,
Whose sorrows added to my lonely past,
To bode my waiting in perpetuity:
You came wafting like breeze, but left like wind,
And rained on arid ground, but swept like flood,
You are fruit's joy, that's gone, as though destined,
To leave me bitter rinds that soured my blood:
Though sets of summer nestlings had flown out,
And soon, I'll hear the robin's mating call,
Despite these changes, how they came about,
The season of my heart remained as Fall:
.......But if you come, Springtime, will I have seen,
.......We will forget how cold, Winter had been.
