Lovely Planet Poem by Keith Parsons

Lovely Planet

Are you smooth and round and blue and green?
Do you turn around from west to east?
Can you see your neighbors from afar?
Are any neighbors like you are?

A tiny beacon, I am to you
Too small to see the rest of you
On faith I take it, the earthly claims
Truth by scholars, so proclaimed

I dig my hand to fill a need
For proof of you is proof of me
Earthly neighbors and space and such
Leave me vexed on life and such

I'm more inclined to see the things
Beneath my feet and above my wings
That's all I need to get me through
The beauty of earth, the forever you
