Low Down, Rich And Stingy Poem by Samantha Stough

Low Down, Rich And Stingy

I checked all my pockets
I checked twice
I even looked again
Still couldn’t find my ticket to paradise
So I stuck my hands in my pockets
And I ran the other way

Salvation was something I could not win
Every soul I passed thought me marked with sin
So down a winding hill
I ran even faster still
Eventually I stumbled
And fell face first on to the damp earth

With a heavy sigh
I rolled onto my aching back
And even with a bloodied everything
I still managed to keep my heart intact
Sinking further into the soil,
The sky became more and more distant

My dreams sang crystal clear
Yet how smeared reality became
I forgot why I ran In the fist place
Even my own name
At least was finally sure that
I finally found home
