Lowlife Livers Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Lowlife Livers

Rising from gutters.
With a doing supported,
By others to have devious druthers.
To sleaze and from the top.
Until what they start no one can stop,
These lowlife livers.
Blatant and performing acts,
From pulpits, podiums and political seats.
With a smearing of their trash.
Done with this as a purpose to leave,
Themselves exclusively to feast upon greed.

And this has attracted,
The youth of today to imitate and mimic.
Re-enacting values for them to follow.
With few left to discredit,
The doings of leaders picked.
Over listening to those protesting,
Against a way of life too real to resist.
With an unknown quality of life,
Once to know the possibilities of it.
By those now growing older.
Those who took for granted,
What once to have existed...
They permitted to diminish.

Where is that better quality of life?
And the examples of it.
Permitted to diminish.
And what was done to allow this to fade.
Since the youth of today,
Are unafraid to display...
A disrespect.
With this taught to teach.
And...
To believe what they see.
Accepting this to be their reality.
Normalized as a conformity.
And not a presentation,
Of a lawless mindset...
Ill and crazed.
Enforced to adapt to this way of life.
Who is it left,
That can convince this 'hypnotism'...
Is a distraction.
An illusion.
And does not represent reality.
If lowlife livers,
Deceive the facts...
With such treasonist and treacherous acts.
