Lunar Eclipse Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

Lunar Eclipse

Rating: 5.0

Sleepily I step outside to peek
Searching through the tall oak trees
Dew covered grass soaks my feet
A lunar eclipse is beyond the leaves.

August 28,2007 is the date
5: 33 A.M. is the time
All the sky is as nondescript as slate
The spectacular event will be sublime.

Dangling in the heavens above
An eerie glow is slowly consumed
Gloom grasps with its ghostly glove
Iridescence is inevitably doomed.

5: 44, remaining is a thin shallow bowl
dimming light chokes the sphere
dominating darkness takes control
hiding the massive luminous mirror.

5: 57, a smudge of soot smears
Covering the moon’s face
An outline of light hugs and reveres
Like a clinging halo that is chaste.

6: 06, a heavy blanket smoothers light
as the moon fades into ebony ink
Its nothingness is spectacular sight…
The concealing mask makes me think.

Rarely do I see perfect alignment
Of our planet blocking lunar rays.
My mind is locked into confinement…
Dawn now evaporates the morning haze.

A wonderful pictorial description of a Lunar Eclipse. I enjoyed it because I share your facination for natural events. Take care

Lovely tribute of such a rare moment in nature. I too got a good look at the lunar eclipse this morning while out on my morning jog. It is awe inspiring! Great job on this fine penning. Regards, Leria
