Martèle le cuivre des automates
Du rêve pour les garçons immobiles
De fins mannequins en porcelaine
Brillants et polis aux gestes fragiles
Ils répètent par des mouvements sur la scène
Le ballet des singes armés de timbales
Les enfants rieurs pointent de l’index
Comme s’ils voulaient toucher
Ce spectacle attrayant de bonhommes sans sexe
Mais aux pommettes maquillées
Rouge comme les lèvres des diablotins
Recherchent la gloire en vain
Mais la ferveur sort un démon.
