Makeup Poem by Brittany D. Gay

Makeup

Eyes, lips, face check
Hair, nails, and earrings too
Blue jeans red top with matching red shoes,
So much, so much for her to do

Grades all F’s haven’t cleaned her room,
Its 3: 00 right now she said she’d meet you at noon

But her eyes, lips, and face are still a check
Her heart broken in two, she falling to pieces
With every second of the day
No time to stop and fix herself, no time not today

But her hair, nails & earrings are still cute
So she put duck tape on her heart and a bit of super glue

This pain’s only skin deep nothing
On the surface but beauty to see
So to all the world she’s fine

Cause you only see the makeup,
Not the duck tape or the glue
Not the pieces falling everywhere
Not even her heart that’s torn in two,
So much, so much for her to do
No time to stop and fix herself, no time not today

I love this because you really show how people try to cover up their flaws with their own little 'make-up' whether it be a talent that they have or popularity. Good work.
