Masks Poem by Matthew Edan Oliver Palma

Masks

Remember how we hide
Keep our emotions deep inside
Try not to look in each other’ 's eyes
Afraid we'’ d see through our lies

But love so true cannot be stopped
There came a time we had to drop
The masks we wear and embrace the trap
The one that’ 's bound to break us up

Now destiny had set its hand
Just like a tight grip on the sand
Our fates slowly intertwined
Although in doom this love is bound

And after all the pain it brings
I wish that love had never found me
Afraid of losing everything
I sought to keep your arms around me

But time is both cruel and unkind
Made everything quite hard to bear
Should’ 've kept these feelings in our minds
Should’ 've held on the masks we wear

Remember how we hide
Drown our emotions deep inside
Never looked in each other’ 's eyes
Never should have seen through our lies
