May I Have Your Hand Poem by norman hale

May I Have Your Hand

May I have your hand
For I have this golden band
I want to place it upon your finger
And pray our love forever lingers

May I wipe away those tears
And calm all of your fears
If you would only answer yes
Then we can start calling guests

May I share with you all of my love
As it was passed on to me from above
And will you share yours as well
May it run deeper than any well

May I see your pretty smile
May our love last for a long while
May your gown fit you just right
For dear, you are my guiding light

May you say yes to all I've asked so far
You may not know it, but you are my shining star
May you love me equally in return
For it's your love, this heart will always yearn

So if I may, have your hand this way
I promise you it will be an unforgettable day
So please answer me with a big YES
As I am on my knees asking this request
