Maybe Poem by Rose James

Maybe

Your heart shaped hand holds onto mine
Just looking for a single sign
As we search on through the night
Then maybe, maybe life’s alright

But I’m not convinced, never have been
I’m just a lonely drugged up teen
Who needs reassurance everyday
So maybe, maybe life’s okay

Then you’re there, arms around my neck
You know all you have to do is check
And I can feel your chest rise and fall
And maybe, maybe life’s so small

Our eyes lock and foreheads rest
I wipe my tears, try to look my best
You smile and tell me everything’s just fine
And maybe, maybe I’ll believe you this time.
