Memories I Treasure Poem by Paula Glynn

Memories I Treasure

Memories of a stolen youth that I treasure,
With happiness that I cannot measure,
For everything happens for a reason,
And it all matters in the passing seasons,
As I ride from day-to-day,
And every Sunday at church I pray,
Knowing I am thankful for what I got from above,
My life without heartache or fear: only love,
And I know that I am free,
And have all I could ever need,
For I am a truly blessed soul,
That steers this life and is truly in control,
For I love people, dance and music,
That I dance to every Friday night,
And I look forward to the Saturday morning light,
For I will be going shopping with my friends,
And their friendship isn't fake,
Isn't something they have to pretend,
And they don't take, take, take,
They give, too,
And help soothe me when I am blue,
For I am the luckiest person in the world,
A world filled with men, women, boys and girls,
And everyone I adore,
Nobody I dismiss or ignore,
For happiness is mine and I am truly in paradise,
For paradise isn't lost to this soul,
And on this ladder of life I take hold,
And this heart will never grow cold,
No matter my age or experience,
For I hold onto god and not the ways of the world,
And to this world I serve, yet make sure I am heard,
So everybody around this earth,
Remember you are all of worth,
And realise that heaven really is a place on earth,
And that you don't have to die to be happy.
