Mom & You Poem by James Mond

Mom & You

Sweet dreams when mom made me sleep
Nightmares when you made me sleep

Delicious rice when mom fed me
Poisonous hot dogs when you fed me

Poor but peaceful life when mom was with me
Rich but rigorous life when you were with me

Mom’s words were harsh
But full of care, love and protection
Your words were sweet
But full of anger, deception and manipulation

Why are mom’s little things so different than yours?
Why are your big things so different than mom’s?

All I know is

There is no substitution
For the three-letter word “Mom”
While another three-letter word “you”
Has thousands others
