Monsoon Dance Poem by Anil Kumar Panda

Monsoon Dance

Rating: 5.0

Clouds have already started drumming,
Sky is aglow with crimson light;
Strands of rain drops hang in the air,
Making the most magnificent sight;

Please leave your smoky den,
Come out; let us dance in the rain.

Frogs are croaking in the puddles, beating
Water with their tiny paws;
Agile worms writhe out of holes, upon
Swinging grass they cautiously lodge;

Please leave your smoky den,
In the rain, let us play like children.

Trees are swinging round and round,
Shaking buds from the fronds;
Shaking rain from their bodies, with
Sticky hooves cattle run down the mounds;

Please leave your smoky den,
Hold the face up and get lashed by rain.

Droplets run down from tip of leaves,
Getting soaked, petals droop low;
With clouds changing colours from brown
To dark, the sky displays a majestic show;

Please leave your smoky den,
Hand in hand, come, dance in monsoon rain.

Cool drops slide down the face,
From chin they fall in twisting rills;
Applause from the valley fills the air,
As flitting clouds smash against stoic hills;

Please come out from your musty den,
Let us play, sing and dance in monsoon rain.

A wonderfully penned poem on rain.With beautiful word rhythms the poem brings the feel of rain dance. Trees are swinging round and round, Shaking buds from the fronds; Shaking rain from their bodies, with Sticky hooves cattle run down the mounds; Please leave your smoky den, Hold the face up and get lashed by rain.
