Murder By Uber Poem by Percy Dovetonsils

Murder By Uber

The New York Times
announces
the impending extinction
of the yellow cab.
The price of medallions
plunging
like knives
into the body of Caesar.

Hardworking immigrants
plunged into debt
defaulting on loans
for their plunging
investments.

Everything
plunging, plunging, plunging.

Ubers wildly outnumbering
real cabs,
ganging up on them,
tearing them apart
in broad daylight
like hyenas
devouring
living prey.

Yellow cabs,
the entry job
for 10 million
new-minted New Yorkers.

Life savers
drifting away
in the storm.
