My Body Covered In Flames Poem by Louise Tredoux

My Body Covered In Flames

I’m afraid I didn’t do much today except
write my love a little story, several stories
if the truth be told, I was naughty and dived
down into the sea from the forbidden rock,
my love came unto me white and shaken and
shocked, he wanted to inflict some form of
punishment, then ended up kissing me as if
I were a captive never to be free ever again-
and that is just exactly how I felt, that I would
never be free of the love in my heart and the
need in my body, so I kissed him back and
pulled him down onto the sand, I wanted to
hold him for eternity and to be held for even
longer than that, I felt young and strong and
in love forever and a day, I shall never love
anybody else in this way, my heart beating
furiously and my body covered in flames…
