My Dear Dad Poem by Kate Lechoe

My Dear Dad

Rating: 5.0

How you listened through my mother’s womb,
I was also listening to your voice,
Your touch on the womb,
I felt your gentle palm passing over my world.
How you whispered as if you were sure I was listening.
It is your voice and mum’s that I first knew,
When still in the dark.

You waited impatiently for me to join you,
How you imagined holding me in your arms.
When you heard my first cry,
You sighed in relieve,
At last you are a father! !

Throwing me higher into the sky,
Scared but I trusted that you’ll catch me.
I trusted that you’ll do the best for me,
Protect me,
Provide for me,
For you are a responsible father.

You taught me how to be responsible,
Punishing me when I do wrong,
That’s the show of your love to me.
Ensuring that I see the essence of hard work,
In order to see me excel.
You are an excellent father,
A responsible man,
A great dad.

Your touch on the womb, I felt your gentle palm passing over my world. How you whispered as if you were sure I was listening. All fathers do that and wait for the big day. nicely put. beautiful lines.
