My Fairy Goddess Poem by James Walter Orr

My Fairy Goddess

I saw a fairy goddess
in a strange, enchanted wood
with hair as bright and golden
as the flower, where she stood.

Her gown was white and lacy
and her figure was divine.
Her smile eclipsed the sunshine
and her heart was merged with mine.

We spoke of all our hopes and dreams;
the things that make us sad;
the things that make our heart sing
and the things that make us glad.

I fell in love that fateful day,
when I gained, yet lost my all,
for my fairy goddess soul-mate
was exactly one inch tall.
