My Friend

I am bound in eternal friendship,
With The Supreme, The Most High,
Preachers taught me to call Him
My Lord, but I feel easy to call Him
My Friend.

I call Him my friend because He is
The quickest to reach and respond,
To my cry for help in my deepest
Troubles, and that's why He is truly
My Friend.

I am what I am, because He is in me,
Deep within; I take my every breath
With His, which He breathed into me,
Before I was born. And so truly is He,
My Friend.

You love me just because my Friend
Is with me. When He would leave me,
So would you, burying me in a grave,
As my mortal remains would be void of
My Friend.

I know my Friend will never leave me.
He would just take my soul with Him,
As He departs. My body will lie in wait,
Until The Resurrection, to meet again,
My Friend.

Yes, it will be the Day Of Judgement too,
I'll be asked about my words and deeds,
Tough will be to answer those, yet I have
No worries. As I always sought refuge in
My Friend.

Sure He knows of the frailties of my mind,
He was in me when I erred so many times
Satanic whispers got the better of me,
Whenever, by intent or not, I parted from
My Friend.

He is no doubt the Beneficent, the Merciful,
A faith that I nurtured and always relied on.
Irrevocable is His promise of Divine Pardon,
My sins cannot transcend the Forgiveness of
My Friend.

So, oh my mortal friends! Try not scare me
With the dreadful thought of burning in
Hell Fire! Speak not of Divine Punishment,
But of Love, Forgiveness and Compassion of
My Friend.

Excellent, explainable and really a beautiful poem. Yes God is always within us. And at the end our soul will go with Him. So nothing to be afraid of the Hell fire or other punishment of hell. Because He is with us.
I love to read it. Very well said. (Report) Reply

    @Valsa George
Thanks a lot for reading my poem and sharing your thoughts.
'The more we advance in age and experience, the more we become conscious of our limitations and helpnessess and the need to get plugged to the source of all power and energy! ' - I subscribe 100% to this observation. (Report) Reply

'My sins cannot transcend the Forgiveness of
    My Friend'.
This is my conviction too.... I believe in the inexhaustible mercy of a loving Father, (I would rather call Him a father) not only in my case but in the case of the entire mankind! I don't have any prejudice or apathy for those who hold different views. But I feel happy to see someone voicing my convictions and faith exactly in the way as I look upon Faith and God.
The more we advance in age and experience, the more we become conscious of our limitations and helpnessess and the need to get plugged to the source of all power and energy!
This staunch and vehement declaration of Faith in Him in the most poetic way, I enjoyed much! (Report) Reply

As the years pass us by wisdom is gain.
    Wisdom without understanding causes pain.
Solomon in council to his son made it plain.
Wisdom is everything but in all your getting get understanding.
Our wisdom comes from the one inside.
A promise made from our Friend that we take in stride.
To His words we strive to abide.
We stumble we fall in our understanding there is redemption for us all.
I can write for hours on end but for now I will suspend.

What an inspirational poem very eloquent and no doubt John 15 verse 15 was the catalyst for the inspiration.
I am particularly impressed by your courage to reveal your heart in prose.
May I list you as my friend.
PS: I have been trying to thank you for your kind words on my work however Enter the verification code has not been my friend it seems to co-operate at random. (Report) Reply
