My Piano Teacher's Dog Poem by Lynne Crandall

My Piano Teacher's Dog

Rating: 4.5

As I stare into you blind, cataract covered eyes,
And gently pat your head,
I remember.
I remember all those years ago
When you would put your paw on my leg
And beg to be scratched behind your ears,
And I would oblige.
Time after time I'd pet you endlessly
And then it stopped.
Something changed.
You no longer begged to be petted
And I no longer wanted to.
Today was the first time in years you put your paw on my leg
You have listened to my lessons week after week, year after year,
Witnessing my progression in miniscule increments.
And I have to wonder,
What else has changed?

Lol I thought this poem was a little funny... It is weird how life changes through the years though... and your poem makes me wonder why now...?

Nice poem Lynne. and you are lucky with the dog...My Music teacher's dogs were part of her strategic plan to keep us in a permanent state of fear...Imagine two huge Bull Dogs growling at you each time you struck a wrong note! !
